Introduction

I had a help of my grandmother when learning to knit lace at a young age. She had a unique way of doing things. She had to teach me in a way that child can understand and everything needed to be simplified.

First, we chose the yarn and the needles. She didn't say anything at first. She just gave me a selection of yarns and I could pick the one I liked.

Only when I started to pick patterns of my own she started to teach me how to select a good yarn and needles. Her simplified approach continued. And still continues to this day.

I didn’t know that lace knitting was supposed to be hard. There wasn't much information available back then. Now it's a different story.

I created this course because I want you to have the same help as I did. I want to take the fear out of lace knitting and give you the liberty to knit exceptional pieces without resentment. I want you to learn to knit lace as effortlessly as me, without tears or frustration.

The course is built like a step by step action plan. You will choose the yarn and needles, cast on and start practicing. There are a lot of exercises and some might feel simple, but don't skip steps. They are there for a reason.

There's a help section for you to solve most common problems you might have. Remember, if you find a mistake then do not panic. If you can't find the mistake then simply unravel to the lifeline and try again - this is called learning.

After finishing all the exercises you will cast off and block your work. It might not be the most beautiful work you've seen, but you will get there. At least you're now ready to try some actual patterns. :)

Speaking about actual patterns - you can find awesome patterns to try in an Appendix section along with some tips and tricks from lace knitters all over the world.

You will finish this course feeling confident and positive. You will know the basics and all the ins and outs of lacework. With this workbook, you will tackle lace once and for all.

Take this course as me sitting beside you, showing what to do. Remember, lace knitting is not hard - it just needs practice!
